Gift Aid Online Filing Deadline – 30th September 2013

Posted by Redbourn Business Systems on Monday, September 9, 2013 Under: Gift Aid

The Withdrawal of the R68(i) Gift Aid repayment form happens on 30th September, so to make sure you are ready, here are your options:

New Paper ChR1 form
HMRC schedule spreadsheets
Third Party Software – AdvantageNFP Fundraiser

Option 1 of the paper ChR1 form is for charities and not for profit organisations without internet access. You will have to manually complete the form by hand and return it to the HMRC by post. You can only claim up to 90 Gift Aid donors on each claim, however there is no limit to the number of ChR1 forms you can submit.  This method is labour intensive and the payment of these claims may take longer from the HMRC.

Option 2 using the HMRC’s schedule spreadsheets means manually typing (or copying & pasting) the donors details on to the schedule spreadsheet online. You can save details and return to the claim later, if required.  The claim must be submitted within 30 days of you starting to complete it.

You can only complete one online form at a time and must submit it before making another claim.  There is a limit of 1000 Gift Aid donors per claim.

You will require Microsoft Excel or Libre Office 3.5 or above and the spreadsheet must be saved as an Open Document Format (ODF).

Once submitted, a screen will display confirmation you have attached the schedule spreadsheet and provide you with a submission receipt number, which you must note down.  This will NOT be sent to you by email.

This method is time consuming, allows room for error in data entry and is limited to 1000 Gift Aid donors per claim.

The third option is to use third party software, such as AdvantageNFP Fundraiser powered by Redbourn Business Systems.  The problem with Gift Aid is that there can be a lot of paperwork involved, and some charities may find it very time-consuming to reclaim tax on lots of small donations.  The good news is that AdvantageNFP Fundraiser fully automates the Gift Aid process with the Gift Aid software, 2 clicks and its all done!

AdvantageNFP Fundraiser is tested and fully approved by HMRC and there is no limit on the number of Gift Aid donors per claim.  We have already successfully processed multiple claims.

Online claims are the most efficient methods to claim and are processed more quickly.  The Redbourn Team interact directly with HMRC.

An investment of over £25,000 was made by Redbourn Business Systems to develop the automated Gift Aid functionality within AdvantageNFP Fundraiser and has been provided free of charge to all our existing customers.
