Going for Gold!

Going for Gold!

The Olympic Games and Paralympic Games have a unique power to inspire all of us as individuals.  It also provides great opportunities for charities and not for profit organisations to attract more funds and raise profiles.

Has your organisation got into the spirit of the London 2012 Olympics?

Get inspired, be Proud to be British!

OK, so the opening ceremony wasn't to everyone's taste, it did go on a bit, but how else do you get 204 teams out? It was well worth the wait, what a spectacular finale!  Watching it all take shape was amazing and the lighting of the cauldron was impressive to say the least.

With 15 medals in the bag to date putting Great Britain in 5th place on the medal table, it definitely gives us something to be proud of.

So far we have seen Rebecca Adlington win bronze in the Women’s 400m Freestyle, Lizzie Armitstead win silver in the Women’s Cycling Road Race, the men's gymnastics team achieve an historic bronze medal and Zara Phillips and Tina Cook win Silver in the Equestrian Team Event.

Not to mention Gold medals from Bradley Wiggins in the Men’s Cycling Individual time trial; Men’s Cycling Team Sprint; Women’s Rowing Pair; and Peter Wilson in the Men’s Shooting Double Trap!

Yesterday we saw Great Britain take Gold and Silver in the Men’s Double Canoe Slalom, what an achievement, along with Gemma Gibbons winning Silver in the Judo.

Now just over half way through the London 2012 Olympics and with the Paralympics still to take place, are you inspired to host a fundraising event to mark this historic occasion?

If you have not had the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere at any of the spectacular venues, then why not start now and join in the celebrations of this momentous event and amazing achievements of the athletes by having your own ‘picnic in the Olympic Park’.  Get your Charity or not for profit organisation’s presence seen by millions and play your part in this remarkable experience.

If you cannot make it to the Olympic Park why not join in the closing ceremony celebrations and throw your own party to raise funds, get involved and have a magnificent occasion.  Watch the artistic expression of Artistic Director Kim Gavin and his team’s production - ‘A Symphony of British Music’; the handover from London to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic Games and the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame, signalling the end of the Games.

So what are you waiting for?
