LinkedIn to Remove Products & Services Pages from Company Pages!

Posted by Redbourn Business Systems on Monday, March 24, 2014 Under: Social Media

On the 14th April 2014 LinkedIn will switch off products & services pages on your company pages.  In replacement, LinkedIn are introducing Showcase Pages for companies.  The idea behind this is so you can ‘Follow’ specific areas of interest, brands, products, initiatives, events, news, etc. rather than just a company as a whole.

The downside is, all the time and effort you have spent building your products and services pages will all be for nothing.  You can copy and paste the information to a new Showcase page, however you are limited to just 200 characters in the page overview.  It will also mean that you need to regularly publish updates for them to feature in your followers feed.

As for your recommendations, these will be lost completely.

So for those of you, like me, that have spent time building your company portfolio of products and services, you will need to start over. But hopefully, LinkedIn’s decision that recommendations are no longer fit-for-purpose and that 'follows' are a better approach for measuring popularity on their social network site, will be final.

The date is looming up to the switch off, so you might want to start work on your Showcase pages. Once you have set them up, let us know so we can follow your new pages and help you build your audience again. Don't forget to let your supporters know so they can keep up to date with your organisations news and events.

Whilst your there, if you want to stay up to date with AdvantageNFP, please head over to our new Showcase pages and follow us. These can be found on our Redbourn Business Systems page on the right hand side, as shown in the image below.
